“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I always knew the woman I wanted to be.”
-Diane von Furstenberg
It was June 2006 when I was first introduced to her. I’ll never forget that day. My husband, boyfriend at the time, got me a birthday present from Bloomingdales that wasn’t exactly to my liking- sorry babe! So I went back to exchange it for something else, something that would change my life. I was 22 and felt that it was time to buy something to remember, a classic. She was beautiful… strapless, crisp white, knee length. A dress that I could own forever. I glanced at the designer and thought hey she has my name! This is meant to be :). I also remember spending a few moments trying to pronounce her last name, haha. But since then, I was hooked! Its not just her designs that I love, it’s her as a person. She seems extremely humble and is such an inspiration.
I was thrilled to find out a few months ago that Diane would be opening an exhibition at the LACMA in Los Angeles. Today was my second visit and it was heavenly. It would be a dream to meet her, maybe one day…
